Nate Cain began his lacrosse career playing in middle school through small clinics and camps in Evanston. He played high school lacrosse at both New Trier High School and Western Reserve Academy (WRA) in Ohio, where he graduated in 2012. During his senior year at WRA, Nate was on the HEADstrong National Team and participated in the Amsterdam Lowlands Lacrosse Games. The team secured first place after competing against the men's national teams from Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, and England. 

Nate attended Goucher College in Maryland and was a four-year starter defenseman. As a senior, he was second in the Landmark Conference for caused turnovers. After graduating in 2016 with a degree in Communications and German, Nate stayed at Goucher as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and the Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach. As a college coach, Nate spent time recruiting and coordinating the defense. 

In 2018 Nate returned to the Chicagoland area to work for True Lacrosse as both their North Regional Director and a National Program Coach. In 2019, he became the Boys Program Director for Evanston Youth Lacrosse Association (EYLA) and the Boys Assistant Varsity Coach at Evanston Township Highschool (ETHS). 

Nate left True Lacrosse after 3 seasons to help start a new travel club called Second City Lacrosse, where he is currently the Director of Programming. Nate also works as a coach for their national program, Team Illinois.
